What do I like to Read.....?

i was amusing myself with the question under the "profile" questions regarding what your favorite books are and began to think that how that question makes sense to me: asking instead: what exactly is on your bookshelf, strewn across the floor or piled next to the bed, in the bathroom? when i look over all these places in my home i realize some of what i read is not that interesting but is something i'm supposed i to read or looks interesting at the thrift store and only costs 10cents....

so, my question is:
can i see your list of what's lying about your house- read or unread? ( and- what can u get for 10 cents?)

here's a couple things, on my shelf, no rhyme or reason:

- 'Nerhling's Plants, People, and Places in Early Florida?' (old Henry N. seemed a rather destitute but brilliant botanist who became enamoured with caladiums when he went to the Chicago's World Fair and eyed them for the first time. He moves immediately to Naples, Florida and for the rest of his life he hung out in these huge warehouses with all these donated exotics and native plants until he died.) quirky but rather fascinating if you like plants...a bonus historical take on old Florida

- Gramatica Da Lingua- An English/ Portuguese Grammar Dictionary well, really just a big yawn for me

- the Vegetarian Epicure, Book Two: an un-granola-like tome on vegetarian food that i consult occasionally.

- Pro-Golf '92/ Volvo Tour European Tour Media Guide: this is the player guide for the tour when i worked it in Europe. i like to keep it for my guy friends who like to talk about golf.

(so Book Boy (malcolm harold), what about you?)

Late Night Musings through the Text

when Baby has a concern about something i usually prick up my ears...even when his emotion comes through in the form of a late nite text. he's not one to be a reactionary and his words come from a deep, solid place within his heart. i mull, now, over his uneasiness about this blog and the words written by me....i do appreciate his anxiety about the wacky world of cyberspace and the many jackasses that reside there.... point taken, Baby Fine!

the subject is food, luscious and comforting and obsessive, food and i begin now with a new blog where i can put my thoughts on this obsession out there...

Crimson Tide Continues...

so the Boy Room Makeover gets completed this weekend and not a moment too soon. the Crimson Dad is no longer seeing Red and is leaving town for a few days. maybe i'll torture the Sentry dogs while he's gone and then paint his room blue and white. that'll teach him to be a freak out over a one room makeover...this Daddio is all about the color Red because he's a coach at a school that flies the Red and White colors. that's why we chose a red wall for the kid. so- red car, red clothes, red shoes and if he doesn't mind his manners i'll give him a red eye, too.

trying to put captions on the slideshow, which i'll update during the weekend, but damn if i can figure out how to embed that code into the blog. where's scott when i need him??

my obsessions have increased and i decided to start a seperate food blog:
obsessions of a food lover

Jane's gift...good food

it's barbara i'm feeding now and not just because i'm a nice gal that loves to see people eat...a simple midnite trip downstairs ended with a nasty leg break for her and a month in hospital. so i started feeding her- arugula salads fresh from the garden helped her deal with the next ten bad meals from the rehab kitchens (that's me up there in mine getting her creamed spinach ready). then came my beloved meatballs...and this week it was Roasted Organic Chicken with the Creamed Spinach which was gobbled up immediately...the best part was watching the little Princess, Brynny, drop and roll in hopes of getting even the tiniest morsel. no way, little lady! (that's her to the right showing her tricks)

(
thank you mama Jane for letting me feed your girl..)
